Saw a couple of bald eagles by the river today. One was on an island in the middle of the river, the other was in a tree by the bike path. I took a few pics, then caught this one as he was leaving.

this one flew into the tree where the other eagle was. (there was a third eagle on the other side of the river). After 5 or 10 minutes, they swooped in on some cormorants that were floating in the river. First one went in, looked like it tried to snatch something out of the river, then the other one flew over the area, circling. I wasn’t sure if the second one was waiting for a bird to flush after reacting to the first eagle or what. The eagles landed in a couple of trees and after 10-15 minutes, did the same thing.
There were plenty of cormorants in the river, so if those were the prey, they should have gotten at least one I would think.
The young eagles are out on a limb. I can only presume they’ve been flying. They hatched the last week in April, so first flight could have been any time now.
This is the first time I’ve seen them out on a limb.
