This is a little hard to see. The light was fading and I backed off to show the whole area.
On the extreme upper right, you can see a bald eagle sitting in a tree. On the left, about a third of the way down is another. Trust me on this (or click the pic for a full-size image).
In the water at the bottom of the pic are mainly cormorants. A few geese and ducks may be mixed in with them.
The eagles sit up in the tree just watching, every once in a while, one or both will fly right over the birds in the water and try to snag one. I’ve seen both flying over the birds at the same time. If they are unsuccessful, they’ll retreat back to their perch and try again later. most times, right before the eagles get there, the birds dive under water.
Saw an interesting thing at the river today. A cormorant got stuck in a tree some how. I was going to get closer to see how the heck it got there.

I noticed a Bald Eagle approaching.

The eagle made a few passes at the cormorant,

And finally seemed to dislodge it. The cormorant was still alive, and may have escaped.
